Wound care clinic is severely understaffed and supply orders take forever to arrive. I spend more time hunting for supplies than treating patients. Management is disconnected from what happens on the floor.

Step-down unit is a solid place to grow your skills. You get sicker patients than med-surg but with better ratios. The educators put together good in-services and the team really looks out for each other.

Love the ortho cases here. Great mix of joints, trauma, and spine. The lead surgeon runs a tight ship but respects the scrub team. Call is every fourth weekend which is manageable.
Pharmacist

ED pharmacy position is interesting but you are the only pharmacist covering the entire department most evenings. Verification queues get backed up and the ER docs expect instant turnaround. Salary is fair though.
Physical Therapist

Acute care PT here is great. Census is manageable, the therapy gym is well-equipped, and interdisciplinary rounds actually happen daily. Wish the pay was a touch higher but the work environment compensates.

Float pool is a nightmare here. You get zero orientation to new units and are expected to hit the ground running in departments you have never worked. Management treats float nurses as disposable.
Radiology Tech

MRI department is well-run with two relatively new scanners. Techs are experienced and willing to teach. Only complaint is continuing education budget got cut last year.

PACU here is fantastic. Controlled environment, great nurse to patient ratios, and the anesthesia team communicates well. Pay is top tier for the area and I rarely get called in on my days off.
